SHC Rants: DVDs vs VHS

9 comments:

  1. While I probably like DVDs more than you, I do agree with your rant. I fuckin' HATE those damn stickers! A lot of my DVD covers are ruined by them. Also, I hate when you have a cover that's made of cardboard and instead of putting the price tag on the plastic wrap, they have to put it on the fuckin' box! Then when you peel it off, you still have remnants of it on the box! It fuckin' sucks. I do think VHS tapes were better, even though I do like fast forwarding quick and scene selection. But they were more reliable for sure. Great rant and I definitely want to see more.

  2. Yeah, I love DVDs, but I HATE those fucking stickers, and I agree about the ones on the cardboard covers. Those ones REALLY piss me off, lol. I like both DVDs and VHS tapes, but I prefer the tapes due to nostalgia and ease of use.

  3. Man, I agree with you and Wolfie on the DVD sticker issue. I have ruined many a brand new movie trying to get the DVD open in the first place...ugh. I have a huge collection of VHS, my only problem with them is they take up far more space than my DVD's, but I love them. Heck, I sometimes just pop a tape in the vcr to record a horror or sci fi flick off HBO or something...wait, I shouldn't say that out loud...now the FBI will show up at my door and take my copy of Isle of the Dead!!! NOOOOOO!!! Anything but my Karloff, Vincent Price, Roger Corman, or William Castle films!! Do you know how hard it was to get a copy of Mr. Sardonicus??? Take the Rob Zombie stuff! Anything with Sherri Moon Zombie, but leave my Planet of the Apes collection!!! Oh the humanity!

  4. Hahahaha, you should know the FBI won't touch anything starring Sheri Moon Zombie with a ten-foot pole, lol. Well, except the Devil's Rejects and House of 1,000 Corpses (and Toolbox Murders, but only because she gets killed in it).

  5. hahaha! I would do the same thing! I would bite off those damn stickers and it wouldn't come off all the way so I end up getting frustrated and throwing the DVD across my room lol.

P.s. you guys don't like Rob Zombie and Sheri Moon Zombie? I love them! I'm a die hard Zombie fan. :D

  6. I know, I have many DVD cases that are ruined by those fucking stickers, lol.

And I like Rob Zombie (both as a musician and as a director), but I'm not a huge fan of Sheri Moon. I liked her in Devil's Rejects and House of 1000 Corpses, though ;)

  7. @JennyB I do like Sherri in some of her work, it just getting redundant that everytime Rob does a project he puts his wife in it...kinda like Burton does with Bonham-Carter. I actually liked her performance in House better than Rejects. I like Rob's original stuff alot, wish he'd do more of it, and I did (now don't kill me for saying this Ethan) like the whole backstory he did on Michael Meyers in his Halloween remake, but the movie as a whole didn't work for me...just left me feeling glad that my ex had to pay for me to see it and I didn't. (revenge is a dish best served at the cinema). I did not like H2 at all. Sorry, nope, didn't work for me on soooo many levels.
Now, if only we could put Sherri into one of those DVD covers, no one could release her...muahahahahaha!!!

  8. Well, I'll TRY not to kill you for saying that. I do admit that it's a good backstory and all, and he certainly did a better job than Micheal Bay would have, but I'm of the opinion that Micheal Myers is more scary when he doesn't have a backstory, and you don't know why he killed. And yeah, H2 sucked.
